Biography

Kris Wagner is a high-octane project manager and multimedia editor with 10 years experience in online, print, and mobile projects. His work has garnered more than 20 industry awards, including the highest honor in the magazine industry, a National Magazine Award in both 2008 and 2009 for digital projects he orchestrated for BACKPACKER and BICYCLING magazines.

In 2006, he founded Adventure Anywhere, a Boulder, CO-based startup that created geo-enhanced content for publishing and technology companies. The company was sold to Active Interest Media in September 2007 where he currently works and leads a multimedia team. Prior to creating Adventure Anywhere, he was a freelance project manager in charge several websites and groundbreaking efforts to create reader-generated content. He also worked as an online managing editor at Rodale Interactive in Emmaus, PA, where he blueprinted and oversaw the development of many interactive projects.

He has been a guest presenter at the O’Reilly Where 2.0 Conference and has spoken at roundtable discussions about online content, GPS, and maps. He has more than 300 photos published in newspapers and magazines and he wrote a showcase article for WIRED magazine’s Test issue about the limited lifespan of gadgets.

Kris helped pioneer a 95-mile offtrail route across Wrangle-St. Elias National Park in Alaska and he was handpicked to represent the United States on the Trans-Baikal Mountain Bike Expedition in 2002.
